Well I apologize people. Its been awhile since I have been able to post. We have had a couple of thunder boomers roll through the area the past couple days and internet has been down. Football weekend again, but today I am bringing you a great interview with Anna Swan, owner and creative director for a great website, Darestars.com, outta NY City. Anna: I’m Anna Marie Swan, President and Creative Director of the entertainment company, Amarus International Inc. Our feature brand is darestars.com.

SEM: What is the name of the company you operate?
Anna: I operate the Darestars Entertainment Network, a membership based website darestars.com which also produces high end DVD’s.

SEM: Tell us about you Anna; have you ever been in front of the camera? How did Darestars come about, how did it get its beginnings? Had you been involved previously in the industry before you began this website?
Anna: I have some previous experience in front of the camera as a fashion model and some minor TV acting parts. Darestars actually had its start as an adult party dares game. Bit of a long story but as a result I started shooting video of natural exhibitionist girls doing sexy daring things. Everyone that saw it really enjoyed the refreshing take.

SEM: What is it like to start an Adult website? What is involved with getting it off the ground?
Anna: Well everyone these days seems to have a website of some sort so it makes it sound easy. You can just buy a template and just stick your stuff in. Darestars is a very complex custom built website which cost much more in blood sweat and tears plus dollars than I ever imagined. I also have had to understand much nerdier tech stuff than I ever wanted to know. Starting an adult company is probably easy if you don’t follow the rules. If you do follow ALL the legalities like we do, it is much more difficult. There is a lot involved if you want to produce and own all your own material. We have a full time video, photography; make up, editing team, high end equipment and our own studio and offices as well as casting department. We buy or have music made for us. And as everyone in the business knows, it is quite the challenge to secure great reliable talent.

SEM: Where is the company located?
Anna: A few minutes from Manhattan NYC, very close to Silver Cup studios where some of the most famous shows are filmed.

SEM: What type of women does Darestars look for?
Anna: We look for great personality, natural beauty and seductive talent. We keep it real and do not do airbrushing or use filters so you see real women who you might see on the street every day. Anna: Well many are trying to get into the entertainment business and after a shoot with us they have top quality portfolio material. Almost all are looking for mainstream modeling and acting work. We also get a lot of applications from girls who have done porn and want to get out. They also like the fact that we heavily promote them and have a chance to get voted in by our members to appear on DVD’s and calendars and events as well as parts in other projects.

SEM: What’s a typical day at the office of Darestars like?
Anna: Nice people work at our office. It’s a pretty laid back attitude here with a lot of great team spirit. Every day is filled with moments of hysterical laughter and great dirty stories. Bloopers are a big hit and our editors like to play around with video to amuse us so it makes for some really funny stuff. On shoot days, we are crazy busy but everyone is excited and hyped up. Shoot days are long ones especially when we get a lot of kinks thrown into our perfectly planned day. Models are notoriously unreliable!

SEM: Does Darestars strictly produce website content only? What other forms of media is Darestars involved in?
Anna: Our main product is our membership website but we produce DVD’s as well. We sell these on our site in our store as well as through distributors. We have many new titles coming out over the next few months. We have a very hot and sexy Girls of Darestars 2009 Calendar. We are also doing some other special projects and one that involves a pilot for a TV series.

SEM: I notice on your site each category is set up like TV channels, please describe what this format gives to the members?
Anna: We went into channels so that members could quickly find video with their particular fetish. This has worked well but we want to make it even easier and more exciting so we are actually in the midst of a website change that will simplify and focus on what we do best. This will be up and running this month. The focus will be on Hot Music, Hot Girls, Up Close and Personal. Much more of an on-line explicit striptease club.

SEM: After browsing through the website and looking it over I noticed that it’s strictly a solo girl/girl-girl website somewhere in between soft-core/hardcore. Don’t get me wrong I love looking at beautiful naked women playing by themselves or with another girl. But how did you come to the decision of having this site feature only women?
Anna: We did start out with exhibitionist men and women. The men did not sell well so we decided to concentrate on women only and that has proved to be a good move. Men like to watch naked women and women like the women so it’s a win win situation.

SEM: Is there a silly, stupid, funny or embarrassing story that happened to you while operating this website or on one of the shoots that you can share with our fans.
Anna: Wow there are so many. Something happens almost every shoot day. We recently had a model show up with poison oak with oozing blisters and rash covering a good portion of her body. She thought our makeup artist could cover this up! Yikes we sent her home. We also have models that do not tell us they are into wrestling and show up bruised and battered. The excuses for not showing up or showing up late are probably the best- I can’t make it because I am too constipated. Lots of grandfathers and grandmothers have died and several cars stolen with all their belongings inside.

SEM: What sort of things are you into when you are not working?
Anna: Great friends, plenty of travel, reading, writing scripts, meeting interesting people.

SEM: Are there any projects or special events that Darestars has coming up that you would like to promote, if so please do so?
Anna: I think what’s most exciting is the new format of darestars.com with the focus being on Hot Music & Hot Girls.
